Because the spiritual hero your kids need is YOU!

That's why we created The Hero Inside! The potential to be your kid's spiritual hero is in you. We want to help bring it out. Get started with 4 SIMPLE STEPS. We strongly encourage you to do this before you begin The Greatest Adventure with your kids!

4 Simple Steps

A world of difference.

1. A New Mindset

Renewed mind = renewed life.

Being the spiritual hero we long to be for our kids requires a specific mindset. Otherwise, we can easily become overwhelmed by our mistakes, shortcomings, and the self-doubt they produce. The new mindset we need begins with a simple truth:

There is a Hero within every hero.

As a Christian parent, the Hero within you is the Spirit of Jesus Himself. This truth forms the foundation of the confidence we need to be the heroes we want to be for our kids. If we rely on our own giftedness, our intelligence, or our talents and abilities, we're in trouble. The first thing every spiritual hero must be working toward is total dependence on God's Spirit.

2. The Little Things

Simple habits. Huge growth.

You don't need to take a flashy step of faith, or do a great miracle to be the spiritual hero for your kids. Doing miracles isn't our job anyway. It's God's. Our job is to do what pastor and author Eugene Peterson calls "long obedience in the same direction." It's consistently doing small things, over the long haul, that makes the difference. Hitting one game winning three pointer once doesn't make a world class shooter. It's the thousands of shots in an empty gym that create the muscle memory required for greatness. The same is true for parents who want to raise their kids to follow Jesus. It's not one big leap of faith that will make the difference (though I'm all for big steps of faith). It's your personal time with God every day that will develop the muscle memory required for you to be the spiritual hero you want to be, and your kids need you to be. And it's little things like your bedtime prayers with your kids every night that will teach them the power and importance of prayer for the rest of their lives.

3. Build A Foundation

Lay it right. Lay it once.

Start with something little. Not because it's easy. Because it's powerful and foundational. This may sound strange at first, but I don't even want you to worry about teaching your kids one of the lessons from The Greatest Adventure until you do two things like clockwork.

Pray for your kids and pray with your kids.

That's it. That's where it all begins. This is the beginning of developing the strength you'll need to raise your children to follow Jesus. Prayer is never the least we can do as Christians. It's the most we can do because life's battles are won through prayer. Jesus prayed all the time. As Christian parents, we should too.

4. Be An Example

Launch their potential.

Our kids watch videos on a daily basis—at home, school, and at church. They ask for our phones and have their own tablets. So, when it comes to The Hero Inside, our desire is for your life, and the example you set, to be the video they watch. I know that sounds like a lot of pressure. Remember, it's not dependent upon you so long as you rely on God's Spirit in you. That's what makes your daily time with God so important.
If you are not already, begin by praying every day. Include prayers for each of your kids. Next, begin to pray with your kids at bedtime and mealtime. Do these two things until you do them on autopilot.
Once you begin The Greatest Adventure make sure you pray the Learning Outcomes over your kids!
